i have a sony ericssor mobile phone with 128 mb card memory..

i can load around 30 to 35 .mp3 songs.....

are there any softwares where mp3 compression can be done to any other format other or MP3 itself that sony ericsson can support with damaging the quality of sound....???/

often mp3 files are with 128 kbps and u can change them to 96, 64,48,32,..., when you decrease the bitrate, quality and size will decrease.

I am looking for another brand of Mp3 player that has atleast 2gb of memory for less then $100. Also, Im not sure of any good products that are like the iHome but work for any Mp3 player.

There are many different companies: iRiver, Samsung, Microsoft, Creative. You should just go to the store and shop around. You can also look online and see what's available. Office max and Office Depot sometimes have specials, in addition to the BestBuy, Circuit City route. Keep an eye on the sales ads in the paper.

Mp3 player and computer question?

Ok 2 of my kids got mp3 players for xmas. I know how to upload music on it, but I have a question about the "safely remove hardware" icon. Once I put music on one mp3, i have to double click an icon on my toolbar that says safely remove hardware(its a little green arrow). The problem is , that icon disappears and i need to use it again to upload music on to the 2nd mp3 player, I want to know how to find this on my computer without having to restart my computer to get the icon back on my toolbar. Its says mass storage device in a box after i click on the green arrow icon. What do i click on my computer files to find this??? I have windows XP. Thanks

Reply:You should be able to disconnect without using this icon. Just make sure that you are not "transmitting" to the device before unconnecting it. I do it all the time and have 3 different MP3 devices and 2 extrnal hard drives - have never had a problem.

I am a musician and I would like to give some of my fans a free mp3 player with my songs on them, but would like to make sure they CANNOT copy the files form the mp3 player to their computers. Which would enable them to share the music. So a basic mp3 player with about 1 to 2 gb of space would do. So can someone recommend a few. Thank you

Your assumption should be that if your music is givin to anyone in ANY digital format, that if they want, they can make copies of it and convert it to other formats. MusicMatch is ok, but I'm looking for an mp3 ripper that produces the best possible sound quality at lower bitrates like 128 and 160. I've heard mp3's posted on artists' websites ripped at 128 and they sound nearly identical to CD quality, unlike most 128 mp3's. Thanks!

I have recently started ripping music on my windows media player with a bitrate of 256kbps. on mp3 format.I have heard about this Lame encoder and don`t understand it.Can i still encode even though my format is already mp3 or do i have to rip as another format first and then encode into mp3 and will i still be able to chose the bitrate of 256kbps.I have cassette`s that have converted to cd`s at a bitrate of 192kbps. and don`t want redo all of it again,i still want to burn them as mp3`s and play them on a sound system will music that is ripped just as mp3 format sound less satisfactory than an mp3 that has been encoded by lame encoder.And if i have to re-rip my cd collection that was ripped at 256kbps. and encode it what format is the best to rip at before encoding it.

Anyone know a program i can use to mix my mp3's?

Actually i mean a program that can edit my mp3's..

such as chopping parts mainly the beggining and/or end.. im not looking for a smooth transition as a dj would do so, its just that some songs have an intro with no music going on and i want to crop that part off and start it to my preference and so forth eventually making a playlist of this.. and if there is such a program, will it be able to be burnt onto an mp3 cd?

if it helps, i have an ipod and am looking mainly editing towards hip hop music. thanks!

I'm looking into buying an MP3 player. At first I was just going to buy an iPod, but I've come across some info that says iPod is easily beat by other MP3 players as far as functionality, price, and durability. I'm not really sure which one to go with!

Here is what I would need in a MP3 player:

1. An MP3 player that plays FM music.

2. Ease of file transfers. I have hundreds of MP3s stored on my computer that I would like to transfer to my MP3 player. (I heard somewhere that if I bought an iPod I would have to download all my music from iTunes. I've never seen the site, nor do I know much about MP3 players....)

3. This isn't really important...but I would like to find one that has alot of accessories, like skins, cases, etc. I like to change the look as well as protecting it.

4. PRICE...I am going to have to save for one, so I'd like to get the most for my money.

Do anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

Reply:If I were you I would get a Creative MuVo TX FM. They come in various memory sizes and prices. I bought the 512 MB one for around $65 at a compusa closeout sale. This device has FM radio and plays mp3/wma. You do not need to install anything on your PC. In fact, the device acts like a thumb drive and will accept normal computer files so you can carry files to another computer. Any unprotected mp3/wma you drag into the device will play.

I have a Creative Zen Vision M MP3 Player which I installed to my computer. I followed the steps and installed the software correctly. Prior to installing the software, my computer recognized the Player and now the Media Explorer says "Your player is not connected. Please connect your Vision:M to the computer." I've tried using it with Windows Media but my computer won't detect the MP3.

Vinyl->Audacity->MP3->iTunes->... can't sync w iPod?

I'm using Audacity to record vinyl into Audacity project format. Then I export into mp3 and can play the vinyl on my PC with a variety of players.

I can import the mp3 and play the mp3 in iTunes.

However the mp3 will not syn when I connect my iPod to my PC. Other stuff (Podcasts etc ) syncs fine.

How do I get to transfer these mp3's to my iPod?

It' strange cause I too use audacity for recording from cassettes and save them as mp3;but have not faced such a problem with my ipod.

Newayz,you can try converting the mp3 songs into AAC format using iTunes and then sync them to your iPod.This will most probably solve your problem.

To convert into AAC,goto Edit--%26gt;Preferences--%26gt;Advanced.

Select Importing tab and choose 'Import using AAC encoder.'

Then right click the songs to be converted and select 'Convert selection to AAC'.

Hey,

It's 8.49 PM (London GMT) 05 February 2008 and my MP3 has literally just walked out on me.. I am SOO annoyed.

It's a Samsung YP-U2R XB 512MB. A few months ago, the MP3 only let one ear piece work. (and i know it's the MP3 through tests with other ear pieces and other devices). So here i was on the PC doin' some work and i remembered the MP3 was charging in the other room with the laptop on (my laptop dosen't work 'coz of some error but the power still comes on so i use that to recharge my MP3). I come back into the room to drag and drop some music files and then i realise it's not turned on. i try countless times and dosen't turn on. I look in the Samsung CD user manual and it says to press the RESET button. i do that in various ways but still no luck. I then go to samsungplay.com and go to the customer support page. it then opens a new window where you have to fill out boxes. one says SN (required field) but there is NO sn from Box to device. Samsuck is c**p PLEASE HELP !!

Sounds like your battery died. Maybe the laptop killed it.

Using a laptop to charge an MP3 player seems really wasteful how much electricity do you think your wasting?

Get a new one and if you don't like samsung fine get a zune or ipod but they will have similar problems if they are abused.

I haven't had problems with mine or other samsung stuff maybe you just dropped it too many times though mine survived just fine from a bike.

I'm not suck on the whole "Ipod" thing, mostly because I haven't had one before. I just need a mp3 player that I can connect to my PC and transfer mp3 files I have on there (mostly lectures and audiobooks for classwork related stuff).

I want a battery life to be no less than 12 hours (mostly because I don't want to remember to charge it daily).

And want it to be under 100 bucks. Also might be using it to transfer mp3 music I have on my PC for when I take up jogging this summer.

Currently, I have a Creative mp3 player. I love it, but it is getting kind of out of date. I am looking for a new one, and I do not want an ipod of any kind. I also do not want one where you need a special program to put songs on with (the one I have now you can just drag the songs onto the mp3 player). Any suggestions?

and im stuck between two relli nice mp3's.

first one is the samsung k3:

the k3 is relli nice looking and perfect for songs however, not much u can do with it, but its a really reasonable price.

I think you should get an iPod. They may cost more but have a lot of choices. Also iTunes has everything you would want to put on your iPod over 2 million songs. Also now you can rent movies for 30 days for just 3 dollars. It may cost a bit more but the orval performance that an iPod brings will make you pleased you bought it.

when i connect the mp3 player to the computer it recognizes it as a mtp media player. then it says

"synchronize media files to this device using windows media player" or "take no action." i selected the first option, and windows media player opens up and says "windows media player does not detect a portable device. connect your portable device, and then try again."

can anybody help me out with this issue? i already wrote to the tech support of the company about a million times but they do not respond.

Instead of using Media player, try using windows explorer. the device should come through as another drive on your system. You can then copy files over to it.

AAC to MP3?

It is soooo easy people. So many people dont know how. If you ever want to use your music on any other player besides ipod and itunes then you will want to convert all your music to mp3.

In itunes go to edit/preferences/advanced/edit and change the default from aac to mp3. Now all songs you import from a cd will be mp3.

For the songs that are aac already do this. Right click the column titles (songs, artist, album, genre, etc part) and add the column called kind. This will tell you the format for your songs. Highlight all the aac (not protected) songs then under the advanced tab in itunes click convert to mp3. It is that simple.

For protected songs, make a playlist of 1.2 hours long. Burn that playlist and immediately reimport those songs (after you have changed the default). Those songs will be imported onto your computer unprotected and in the mp3 format.

You will have copies of all your aac and protected aac songs after you do this. You can erase the aac now.

AAC to MP3?
For the protected files, here I found a easy way to use. You just need a converter could help you remove DRM.

It needs to support mp3. mp3 needs to be it MAIN time of format.

NO itunes crap i dont know what the itunes format is but none of that. NO wma. I mean it can support that but like i said the main formaot needs to be mp3.

Also if it the songs can be synced with Windows Media Player that would be good or if it has like drag and drop into a folder that would also be good.

PC and MP3 USB Port problems.?

When I connect the MP3 player into the USB port on the computer, the computer can't seem to pick it up. The MP3 player shows that it is connected because it says "USB CONNECTED"

When I go into device manager it shows that it's there but for some reason WMP is not picking it up. All I want to do is put music on my MP3 player but my computer can't seem to pick it up.

I have tried all three USB ports on the computer and they all result in the same. When I first bought the MP3 player it worked fine but all of a sudden it does not want to work.

I try to put songs on my MP3 player but WMP says there is no device connected. Any help would be great.

If you have an Ipod that could be one of the reasons, WMP is picky towards those. You said it worked fine, so I'm thinking maybe either some settings changed, or you might need to update the drivers. Sometimes the company has software to manage the MP3 players and they work a lot better, so try going to the website and downloading their software or a new update for the device if there's any, also try the microsoft knowledge base, at www.microsoft.com in case other people had the same issue, and maybe find a solution.

Don't JuSt get an iPod...

1) The new iPods have okay battery life but there are lots of mp3 players with better battery life.

2) iPods hold lots of media, but once again there are other mp3 players that are just as good and hold just as much... and 9 out of 10 times cheaper!

3) Yes, now these days tons of mp3 players can hold photos.

4) The new iPods don't scratch nearly as easily as the old ones so far that i know, and they are improved with anodized aluminum. There once again are some mp3 players that are just as durable.

5) iPods are popular basically because they are easy to use. Few mp3 players are just as easy to use, but there are some.

6) No you can not with an iPod, with the Creative Zen V (listed below) you can record RIGHT from a CD player, friends ipod or mp3 player, or even stereo.

7) The main difference is probably price, iPods are extremely overpriced, and they lack lots of features...they are just sorta a fad and its not that sensible to get one other than they are easy to use.

Of these MP3 players, which would you pick?
I'd forget about the Insignia (cheap build) and the Zen Micro Photo (outdated).

The other two are great players. The Creative Zen V Plus is a cute little player and personally I'd get the Sansa because of its larger TFT LCD screen. Both have FM Radio, voice recorder, however the Sandisk supports more video formats than the ZV+.

Bottom line: If you'll be using the player for music, get the Zen V Plus, if you're more video oriented, get the Sansa.

Please don't recommend I get an iPod because I only need about 2 gigs of storage for songs and a few videos, so iPods are too expensive for what I need. Thanks for your suggestions :]

ok well i feel kinda stupid asking. But how do I transfer music from iTunes/ Best buy digital music store to my insignia Mp3 player it is a 1 gb. In the little instruction packet it says to install a CD(that they included), but I think my sister already installed her CD which could have the same thing as mine on it. She has that littlemonsta Mp3 player. My brother and sister got a littlemonsta mp3 player and an Apple Ipod do any of these use the same music service as a insignia Mp3? If so please tell me a simple step-by-step procedure to transfer music from the PC onto my mp3 player.

If you can you will have to convert your iTunes m4p files to mp3 files before you can use them on another mp3 player. You can do this in iTunes if you select the song you want to convert then click advanced and click on Convert Selection to mp3. Then you can download them to another mp3 player

I have a bunch of mp3s i ripped with a bitrate of 360, and i want them down to 128 for storge reasons, i want more to fit on my mp3 player

the method im using is:

burn mp3s to vital drive

%26amp; repripping them in WMP!

the resulting mp3 is now 128!

im not so much bothered about the quailty change between 360 and 128... what i wanna know is does this precess MP3%26gt;CD%26gt;MP3 degrade the quality even more? more so them ripping direct from the original CD to 128 mp3s!

Theoretically, since MP3's are a "lossy" compression method. MP3%26gt;CD%26gt;MP3 should degrade the quality more than ripping direct from the origial CD to 128. However, I'd try both methods on one or two tracks and see if I could tell the difference. If I couldn't, then I'd use whatever method was easier.

I cant get my mp3 player to connect to tthe computer.

I have the USB wire plugged into the computer and i have the other end plugged into my mp3 player. The light lights up when the wire is connected to my mp3. but then the mp3 doesnt connect to the computer. it just turns on.

it then connects to the computer for like 2 seconds and then it turns back on.

could it be my computer?

i checked the wire theres nothing wrong with it.

should i take the wire back?

ive never had problems with it before. just today.

OK, try another usb port firstly, if not, unplug the player, locate the drivers (usually in control panel - add/remove programs) and uninstall them. Plug in the device again, and if it installs them fine then yay, you may need a CD that came with your player though.

If this doesn't work there is a distinct chance that your player is corrupt :(

My mp3 player keeps forwarding songs on its own.... how do i fix it?!?

I have a RCA PEARL flash mp3 player.it has a built in USB connection and can hold up to 160 songs. So far, I only have like 50 songs on my mp3. It was working fine for almost an year then today it started to forward on its own. When I was listening to my music, the music was forwarding by 2 seconds! So like instead of the timer part [not sure whats it called] where when it plays it counts the seconds starts going like 1, 2, 4 , 6 ... instead of 1,2,3,4..... I don't want to buy a new mp3 player because i already spent $60 on my first mp3 and 40 on this RCA mp3!!! i don't know how to fix it. Is it because of the battery? I put in a new battery in it today, but its not the rechargable battery i always use. It only started acting weird today. I'm confused on what should I do. Please tell me how to fix it!

Hi, okay so i'm planning on purchasing a new mp3 player soon, but i dunno which to buy. I don't like or want an apple ipod, ummm ipods just have like way too much going on, i just wanna listen to my music %26amp; enjoy superior sound quality, i dont need to watch videos, take pix, txt message, play chess, phone a friend %26amp; trim the bushes with my mp3, i just want it to play music!

I dunno if all mp3 players operate via a music store, i.e: itunes, rhapsody, urge,etc.., i'm really not looking to go that route!

But if i could some how convert my albums:cd %26amp; vinyl, to mp3 form, that would be bliss!(can u tell me how?).

Ohe yeah, the desired mp3 player should play ummm i dunno maybe 2,000+ songs/ and is compatible with alternative earphones( just bought a new pair that i wanna use).

My sister has recently got a mp3 for her birthday.

The brand is Curtis.

I have read the directions that it came with

and for her birthday, she have got an iTunes card and since I have

an iPod, manfuactured by Apple, it was already downloaded to the computer.

So I bought songs she wanted for her mp3 on iTunes.

The problem is, when I put in the disc that came with the mp3, it shows that I can use Napster and things like that. I want to use iTunes.

I tried clicking all around and re-reading the directions but I can't seem to get iTune's music on the mp3. I can't seem to get any music on it.

I tried plugging it in when iTunes was up, but it wouldn't work.

Can anyone give me tips or trying something? :l

well, i don't know about all that, but i have an mp3 player, NOT an ipod, and i put my music onto my mp3 player directly from itunes onto it.

but i think it all depends on the type of mp3 player you have.

was it pretty expensive or is it not that hi-tech?

um, i don't know...i suggest...um i don't even know if this will work but:

try going to your itunes library, then right clicking, push 'get info' and at the very bottom where it says, 'location' well go to that location in your documents.

(it should say something like 'Local C://documents and setting/whatever whatever')

or wherever you have your music located.

at least i'm pretty sure it'll work like that.

anyway, once you find the location, then just try and drag and drop that file onto wherever you put the songs you want on your mp3 player to go.

um, if that doesn't work then tell me.

i don't know what will work for you, the only other thing i can suggest, is putting the songs on cd first, and then importing them onto Windows media Player and then syncing it with that.

because wmp usually works with most mp3 players.

but that can be more of a hassle, i know.

also, re read the directions in the booklet for the mp3 player. there might be an option where you can switch the modes for the player so you can put music on there from any location.

that's how it was for mine.

my bro is getting a new Nextar MA933A Digital MP3 Player for xmas... and my mom asked me to put some songs on there for him.... idk how to transfer the songs from my computer to the mp3... the directions that came with it don't give me enuff info to do it... i'm lost and need help!!!

p.s..... current directions

1. plug mp3 to computer

2. when u open "my computer" you will see a removable disk which represents the player. now you can use the removable disk as a normal local disk drive, copying audio files from or to the removable disk

well first plug it into the computer using the usb cord. if you have a laser mouse, the place where it get plugs into is a USB. so yeah once you connect it to your computer open the "my computer" icon. then you will see something that says "local disk" what you want to open is the same icon as the local disk icon but the one that pops up right after you plug the mp3 in the computer. after you open that up, hold down the mouse on a music file you want onto there and (while still holding down the mouse) drag it into the mp3 disc that you have open.

yeah so thats how you put songs onto it.

and when you want to remove it, go to the bottom right of the computer screen where you should find the mp3 icon. click that and follow your step 2 for removing the mp3 safely

The Process

Overall, the process of transferring music files consists of the following:

Install music management software on your computer

Determine the source of the music files that you want to transfer

Create the appropriate music file format for your transfer

Connect your MP3 player to your computer

Transfer your music files to your player

Disconnect your player

Step 1: Install music management software on your computer

In order to create music files from your CDs and transfer music onto your MP3 player, you need to install music software onto your computer if it is not already installed. Usually, the appropriate software for your player is bundled with the MP3 player. If so, install that software, as it is probably the best option for your MP3 player. Two of the more popular examples of music management software include MusicMatch Jukebox and iTunes.

Step 2: Determine the Source of the Music to Transfer

The next step in getting music on your MP3 player is to determine the music that you want to transfer. The music must be owned by you and be in a format that you can easily convert to a format that can be read by your player. The two most common ways are through a music CD that you own or through a download from an Internet music store. Though possible, it is more difficult to use an old album or cassette tape as your source for music. This article does not address these cases.

Step 3: Create MP3s or other appropriate media from the source

If you are downloading from the Internet, your music files should already be in a format playable by your MP3 player. Skip to Step 4.

If you are using a music CD as your source:

Insert the CD into your computer.

Launch the music management software that you installed above. The application should recognize the CD and if you are connected to the Internet, should provide you with the artist name, album title and all of the names of the songs.

Check the preferences for ripping/creating/importing MP3s. This should be under a main menu on your software. For creating basic MP3s, make sure that the selected encoder is for MP3s (Note: almost all MP3 players will play MP3 format, so if you are unsure what format to use, choose this one). Also note the name and the location on the computer of the MP3s that will be created from your CD. For the best sounding audio quality adjust the sound quality to the best option available.

Rip the CD. There is usually a button on the software to rip the CD. On iTunes, it is called import and located in the top right corner. On MusicMatch it is called record and is a red record button located on the Recorder window.

DO NOTHING on the computer until the rip is complete. This is important because you may create MP3s that skip if your computer is not dedicated to ripping the CD.

You should now have MP3s that can be transferred onto your player.

Step 4: Connect your MP3 Player to your Computer

In most cases, your MP3 player will use one of two popular connections to your computer, either USB or FireWire. USB is the most common, and even the iPod which initially only used to connect via FireWire, can now be connected with USB also. Either connection will work seamlessly to you.

Turn off the MP3 player. With the computer on, connect the MP3 player cable to your computer and the other end to your device. For an easy access connection to your computer, use the convenience jacks that are now located in the front of most computers.

If your MP3 player is new and never been used, either insert new batteries or if it has a rechargeable battery be sure to charge your player first. Next, turn on the MP3 player. You should see a notification on the LCD display of your MP3 player that it is connected to the computer, e.g. USB connection active.

If you do not see a message on your MP3 player (assuming it has a screen for display), check your connections and make sure that they are connected. You can also try another USB or Firewire port on the computer. You also may need to launch the music software in order to connect the player appropriately. Experiment with your player and read the documentation to determine how your MP3 player works.

If your MP3 player requires the use of software to transfer files or you just want to try and use the software, skip to Step 6. If you just want a quick and easy approach to get some files on your player, continue with Step 5.

Step 5: Transfer your music files to your player

An easy way to understand MP3 player basics is to think of an MP3 player as a place to store files, much like a hard drive on your computer stores files or a digital camera stores pictures. All you need to do is transfer files in music format (such as MP3s) to the device from the computer.

The simplest way to transfer files is to simply use the file explorer on the computer to move files onto your MP3 player. Most MP3 players allow you to do transfer this way, but to be certain refer to your MP3 player documentation.

Follow these steps to transfer music to your player:

On a PC running a Microsoft Windows operating system, click on the My Computer icon. You should see many items listed including a drive labeled C: which is your main hard drive. Traverse this drive until you find your MP3s that you want to transfer. They should be located in the directory that you selected above when you ripped your MP3 files and should end with .mp3. (Alternatively, perform a search on your hard drive by right clicking on the C: drive and selecting search. Enter *.mp3 as your search terms to locate the files in question.) Select the files to transfer and click copy from the Edit menu.

Click on My Computer again to bring up a new window. Your MP3 player should show up in the list of computer drives. Usually it will show up as the E: or F: drive and be labled as a Removable Disk. Click on each drive until you determine which drive is your MP3 player. For more information on how to determine the right drive, see Matt Whitlock's article. (If your MP3 player still does not show up in the list of available drives, it probably requires software to transfer files. Skip to Step 6 below.)

You should see some files on the drive that you do not recognize and uniquely identify the player. Browse the folders on the proper drive until you find the music folder for your MP3 player. This should be recognizable by one or more demo MP3 files in that folder. Right click with the mouse and select paste. This should transfer the MP3 files to your player.

On a Mac, launch Finder. Your ripped or downloaded music is probably under the Music folder unless you specified a different folder. Follow the same instructions as above to copy the MP3 files. Your MP3 player should show up as a Drive in the upper left hand corner of the Finder window. Copy the files directly to the MP3 player.

Some MP3 players (mostly Flash-based) allow you to manage music files by allowing you to put them into different folders for easy playback For example, to create a folder for a Cold Play Parachutes CD, copy or drag the entire folder of songs to the player rather than just the songs themselves. The same can usually be done for an entire hierarchy of artists, albums and songs.

Step 6: Manage and Synchronize your Files with Music Software

If you have an MP3 player with several Gigabytes of storage or more and you are changing the music on your player at least every now and then, it is worth your time to use music software to help you manage your music files. There are two major benefits, among others, which make this worthwhile: (1) The software will automatically keep your files on your computer up-to-date with what is on your MP3 player and (2) it allows you to create playlists which you usually cannot do on the player itself.

Synchronizing your Files

Every software updates music on MP3 players differently. However, most all programs have a music library where all of your music can be stored and played from within the software. In order to synchonize and transfer music to your player, you must populate the music library with music files. The easiest way to do this is to import music from the MP3 files that you created on your computer above, an option usually located on the File main menu of your software.

iTunes synchronizes using playlists. You must create one or more playlists in iTunes, then select the playlists that you want to synchronize with your player in the user preferences (see below for more information on playlists).

MusicMatch uses a Device Manager to synchronize files. It tries to synchronize your entire music library with your MP3 player. So, make sure that you populate your library with the music that you want on your player before synchronizing.

Other programs will synchronize in their own way. Read their help files in order to determine the appropriate methods for synchronization.

Creating and Managing Playlists

Playlists are a great way to manage songs that you want to hear at certain times. For example, you can create a workout playlist that contains music that you enjoy listening to when you workout.

To create a playlist, you can usually go to the File menu and select New Playlist. Give your playlist a name and then start dragging your files from your music library to the new playlist. It is as simple as that. Make sure that you include the playlist when your synchronize your MP3 player to ensure that it gets copied on your player.

Disconnect your Player

It is important to note that you should not just remove your device from your computer without disconnecting it from the software that is updating it. It could theoretically ruin your MP3 player if you do so. To correctly disconnect the player, follow the instructions in your manual if you are using software to transfer files. If you are performing the transfer by hand, you can eject the drive in Microsoft Windows operating systems by clicking on the little gray box with a green arrow on it in the system tray in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Select the drive that you want to disconnect and click it. The drive will be disconnected. On a Mac, hit the eject button in the Finder window next to the appropriate drive.

To use software, or not to use software

As mentioned above, most MP3 players work with music software, which is usually the easiest and best way to manage your MP3 files with your player. However, depending upon the brand of MP3 player and software used as well as your technical ability, it might actually be more confusing to use software. In any event, it is recommended that you try both approaches and then determine what is the best way for you to manage your files.

I have put loads of tracks on my mp3- i can play these through my lap top. But i can't play them on the MP3 player!!! It says 'no MP3 FILE' but when i look in 'computer' it shows all the tracks on the device and says they are in MP3 format!?

its obviously storing the files wrong, i recomend installing the cd for your mp3 player again and then attach your mp3 player, before u add anything you should format it this will wipe everything from your mp3 player, then re-put the songs on as long as the files are mp3s they will work, formatting it will make the space of a 1 gig mp3 player, which should hold roughly 250 songs good luck hope this helps.

Does anyone know how to unsubscribe to the MP3 Music Pack?

My provider is Singtel.

When i signed up for the student plan, the plan includes a free mp3 music pack.

Then one day, a message was sent to me to notify me that the free mp3 music pack was ending soon.

when i connect it to my computer it recognizes it as a mtp device and then, it says, "synchronize media files to this device using windows media player" or "take no action." so when i click on that the first option it says, windows media player does not detect a portable device. connect your portable device, %26amp; then try again." ok, so then after attempting several times on that, i decided to do something different. i went to "my computer" to see if it is anywhere there and i can't find the thing nowhere. i can't find it as a removable disk f, g, etc. but, my other mp3/camera recognizes that one as an f. how come my computer doesn't recognize the new mp3 player?

You can't create what doesn't exist. Data was permanently lost while encoding it to preserve space. The only way you'll be able to obtain a good quality recording is directly from source.

What you'd end up with is a lossless copy of a lossy file.

Try getting a new computer with either Windows XP or Windows Vista because most newer mp3 players won't work with the old windows. Once you get a new computer, or just upgrade to windows XP, I think your mp3 would work. As for limewire, there should help information. Also, watch out for viruses when using limewire, especially if don't have a good anti-virus.

My MP3 has worked just fine with downloading songs until now... I connect it to my computer, and go to the 'my computer' icon. Everything works just fine until I click on MP3. I can click on the Sansa Icon, and go to media, then I click on music, and it shows up with the MP3 folder. I have to wait longer than usual for the folder to load, but when it finally goes to the next page, nothing is there! Its like I never downloaded anything! I don't think I have to wait for the songs, cause they should already be there like they always are, and it shows that its done loading. So when I disconnect my MP3, I still have all the songs...they just won't show up on the computer...so help me? i don't know whats wrong with it. Also, if I put new songs into the folder when it loads, will I erase my other songs since I can't see them? ....Thank you so much! P.S. I have Sansa e250 MP3 PLAYER 2GB model.

i'd say your mp3 player is malfuctioning, sansa r not the best mp3 player, they r known 4 having gliches and errors, so i'd say call the company or trouble shooting, if that doesn't work i'd reconmmend a 2 gb creative zen stone, or zen

Hello! I'm attempting to make a MP3 CD that I can play in my car using Windows Vista.

When I put the blank CD into my computer, I clicked add files using Windows Explorer, and it automatically formated my CD. Then, I selected songs, and pressed burn. However, when I brought my CD to the car to listen to it, it could not read anything off the disk. The disk was not scratched, and my car can play MP3's, so why didn't it play?

How can I make an MP3 CD? Am I doing this right?

If the CD is already formatted, is there anyway I can go back and kind of "unformat" it, back to being a black disc so I can burn it in Windows Media like a normal CD?

I would really like to burn an MP3 CD, and any help is greatly appreciated!

Does your car stereo support MP3 files? If not, that might be the problem. Just putting the MP3 files directly on the CD should be enough for an MP3 supported player to play them.

Any who. To add music, pics, and videos onto my Mp3 you have to use Windows Media Player. So I am, I can get my music on no problem at all. But when I try to get photos onto my Mp3, it doesn't work. It says that is supports JPEG and BMP photos. My photos are in JPEG format are that I'm trying to get onto my Mp3 player.

Typically with photos/videos, they have to be specially encoded to work on whatever device you're copying to. I see from that Best Buy link that it came with an Application CD. I would assume that there is a program on this CD that would do the conversion for you and copy them to the device.

I know the Sandisk Sansa players are the same way. You can copy audio files a few ways but need to use their converter software that came with it to put pics on them.

Sony MP3 Player (NWDB103) query - getting "file error message" with music files copied using Media Player

I have just got myself a new Sony MP3 player. It is a 1GB NWDB103. I've had a usb supported MP3 player before and never had any problems with them (until they broke of course).

However, with this one, when I am copying music files over to it, they are appearing on the MP3 player, but when I try to play them I get a"file error message". The music files were all copied from CD using Windows Media Player and worked fine when copying them onto my old MP3 player.

I have checked on Sony's site and they advise that the files maybe the wrong format, but the files are only WMA or MP3, all of which the player should support.

Any ideas?

I have mp3 player that says it can work under mac 0S X. Problem is that the mp3 gets songs from windows media player, and this comp. doesn't have windows media player. We would have to pay for WMP, but the stupid instructions say (or as far as I can tell) it can work with mac 0s X. is there a way of getting songs from walmart.com to my (walmart-brand) mp3 w/o getting WMP.

When i add files in MP3 format (ones that i've downloaded) to my MP3 player, they seem to take up less room than songs i've ripped from CDs using Windows Media. Is there anyway that i can turn those Windows Media ones into MP3 format in order to get more on my MP3 player? Sorry, i hope this makes sense. Thanks.

You can get software to do this (see the excellent answer from the other guy above). However be aware that file size has everything to do with bitrate (or compression ratio if you like). The more compressed the music file, the smaller it will be but the worse the quality is.

Also the convertor software wont be able to make any music better than the source file. that means if you have a MP3 at 128 Bit rate, converting it to CDA wont mean it is back at CD quality, it just means a CD will be able to read the file. I hope that makes sense. Just make sure you understand the trade off you make when you compress music (in any format).

Reply:Yes this makes perfect sense and the solution is very simple and you don't need complicated software to get MP3 format. In fact you can use Window media player, all you have to do is open WMP click on tools then options then rip music and finaly under rip settings just switch windows media audio to mp3. hit apply then ok and when you instert a CD next time and rip the music tracks will all be in MP3 format Enjoy!.

Reply:You are probably either ripping them at a higher audio quality or in a format that takes up more room or you may be comparing longer songs. Go to the options menu and the "Rip Music" settings. Check both the format and the audio quality. You can also choose between MP3 format or various WMA formats. WMA takes up less space at the same bitrate as MP3 but not all MP3 players support WMA. You can also reduce the audio quality so they take up less space.

I'm sure there is a way to convert your old files into smaller ones but if you still have the CD handy it's probably easier just to rip it again.

First see whether the file your are trying to play is not corrupt. If it's playing fine on PC (you can use VLC player) then try to reset your Mp3 player to factory settings. Try that and see what happens.

Hi guys, I have a major issue with my mp3. I have no idea what happened to it, one day its working fine the next day it states "no mp3 file" on the LCD. I know I have mp3 files in there. I tried everything. When I plug it in the computer, I can see the songs there, and the space used, but when I take it away from the computer, "no mp3 file" pops up on the LCD. I formatted it first to FAT32,and then back to FAT. it didnt work. I made my own list in media player, %26amp; i triedi synchronizing. Nothings working.

The mp3 is not mine its a friends of mines, and she needs it fixed; its from Newtech.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I looked it up and you can use windows media player. My guess is that your computer already has it.

You can get it here if you need it.

All you do is open this program and let it search the computer for music.

Then plug in the mp3 player to the computer. It should appear in windows media player. Hit the sync button and sync the player to windows media player. You can rename it here if you want, too.

Then on the right hand side you should see an empty box. Just drap and drop the songs you want into that box and then click sync. It will add those songs to the mp3 player.

If you click your mp3 players name it should give you a few folders of what music is on your mp3 player organized by artist, name, etc. Right click and delete the songs you dont want.

Hmm, I think we need more details like what kind of mp3 player it is. If it's an apple ipod you can go to ala moana mall to the apple store and sign up to talk to someone at the Genius bar to take a look at it and run some tests... if it's another type of player I would start by taking it back to where you got it they can tell you how it can be fixed. I am interested in buying the Samsung T9 2GB MP3 Video Player, the Creative Zen V Plus 2GB MP3 Video Player, the SanDisk Sansa e250 2GB MP3 Video Player, or the Philips GoGear 6GB Photo MP3 Player. I was wondering if you can view all of your music at once on these like an ipod. I'm also wondering which one you would recomend for me to buy. Thanks!

it depends on what you need your mp3 for. like is it just to play music or to do othert stuff on. then look at your price budget. after that give a search off the model and make and look at some reviews for it then work accordingly to that.

Which web site is best for downloading for my daughters mp3? Someone was telling me that iTunes won't work for an mp3. Her mp3 doesn't have much in the line of an instruction manual and I am mp3 illiterate.

ok so i'm buying an mp3 player. and i want a really good one. below are the features it MUST have

1. at least 4GB of storage

2. touch screen

3. camera

4. FM radio

5. plays video

these are the things i'd like it to have but they are not manditory

1. full internet access

2. colored shell(like the ipod nano)

i want it to have as many features as possible

i'm buying it off of ebay so a link to an item would be helpful. it needs to be under $65(including shipping). i really don't want an ipod because it means i have to use itunes which is such a pain. if the one you suggest doesn't have a camera it at least needs to have full internet access and 1 other feature i listed as not being manditory.

i wouldn't say so. WAVs are very easily manipulated in an on the fly mixing environment but if neccassary convert your MP3's. Its very simple using free software like Audacity *google it*

ok, my mp3 is like broken! when i plug it in the computer doesnt reconize it but it says its conected on the mp3 and it somtimes freezes and i have to wait like 3 hours for it to turn off but it did it to times to day so now the battery is DEAD and i pluged it into the computer to charge it but i wont charge!! is it the computer or my mp3? cause i pluged it into my laptop and it worked. i reacentley installed a webcam and the mp3 hasent worked since. its a sandisk sansa E260. please help tell me what to do!

Ok, so I got a new Mp3 player the other day.... and when I open up Windows Media Player to connect my Mp3 Player and add some pics, songs or even videos to it. It doesn't even say that my Mp3 Player is connected.... in the top right where it should say my Mp3 is connected. It says that nothing is connected.

Why doesn't it even recognize that my Mp3 IS connected??

I have some lecture files in mp3 format? but surprisingly it is video filles and play nicely with real player but can not open in windows media player.

I never heard about mp3 video. How a file with .mp3 extension plays video with audio.

Any body know what is mp3 video and how to convert it other format?

I am not taking about mp3 audio only. this mp3 has audio and video slides.

There is no such thing as an MP3 video. MP3, which stands for MPEG Audio Layer 3, is an encoding standard for audio files. More than likely, the file name extension is incorrect. Try examining the file in AviCodec to identify what format the file is actually in.

The audio portion of the file may be encoded in MP3 format, but the video will be something else.

edit(3/29) : The MP3 format does not support video encoding which is why I'm saying that the file name extension is incorrect. To find out how to convert the file to another format, you need to know what video codec was used to create the video portion of the file. If you download and install the program in the link provided, you can find out what video codec was used. Once you know what video codec was used, then I can tell you how to convert it to another format compatible with WMP.

Mp3 and wmp - files gone?

When I have my mp3 connected to my computer, after I sync'd, I have files that were on my mp3 (not previously on that computer) in the WMP library. However just went back there without the mp3 plugged in, and those files are now orange (say they dont exist)

How do I upload them so they stay.

Since they were in the library - not just the sync list - figured I had uploaded them. Guess not.

This is a sandisk mp3, but doubt that matters.

Assuming you are using a windows computer, click the start menu, then my computer. on the e:\, f:\ or i:\ it should say "removable storage device" or "sandisk mp3 player" something like that. double click that and drag the files to your My Music folder on your computer. If that doesn't work, then the songs are probably protected (meaning they can't be duplicated). Then you would need to get the original cd and rip the songs to your computer. hope this helps.

I have this mp3 player, but I can't put videos on it. I was able to put songs and pictures on it just fine, but I can't put videos on it. Please don't tell me I can't put videos on it because mp3s only play music. This mp3 player can play videos. When I bought it, it came with two videos that I later deleted. You can even look it up yourself, and you'll find out that it supports mpeg4. It's a Samsung YP-T9J. I would convert the videos to mpeg4, but windows media claimed not to be able to put on the mp3 player. If I didn't convert it, only the audio would be on my device. I once used a different program to put videos on my mp3 player, but it claimed that my device wouldn't allow it to go through or something like that. Please tell me what I can do to put videos on this mp3. Do I need a different program?

I just puchaced a MP4 player on E-Bay, I bought it on the assumption that it will also play MP3. The item was described as a generic I-Pod. There are lots of them that look like the one i bought and are "Generic I-Pods" and they are MP3 compatibale.

Anyways...If a MP3 player plays MP4's will it also play MP3's?

yes it will play MP3 music...MP4 means that its probably a video player and it accepts .mp4 video too. ( not many MP3 plays do that)

a while back I went to a certain store and my brand new MP3 player just died while I was paying for my stuff at the register.

Since then I used my warranty to replace that mp3 player with a new one exactly the same.

It was working fine until I took it with me to that SAME store and sure enough while I was standing in line to pay for my stuff the new mp3 player died too.

Is it possible that the scanner at the store may have caused both my mp3 players to demagnify or something?

What do you think could have caused this to happen and how can I stop it from happening again?

So I brought a Sony 4GB S610 Walkman Video MP3 Player. When it comes to put music on it...it says:

"Formats supported: This player supports playback of MP3 and WMA DRM and non-DRM audio files downloaded from multiple sources. It also supports non-DRM AAC content, giving you multiple options for downloading music the way you want."

Does that mean I can download I-TUNES??

It also comes with some software (Software: Included is a CD that contains Windows Media Player 11 and MP3 Conversion Tools.) Since it comese with MP3 Conversion Tools does that mean if I can't put I-tunes on it I could use the converter to change the I-tunes song over to a MP3??

Wow, this sounds complicated....let me explain

Your paragraph on "Formats supported..." mean it can play Mp3 files, WMA files, and files that are protected and not protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM). iTunes does not work with any other music player other than iPods and iPhones. You do not need to download iTunes.

Secondly, your paragraph on "Comes with software" says it comes with WMP 11 and mp3 conversion tools. You use Windows Media Player to sync the songs to your player. The Mp3 conversion tools are used to convert songs in other file formats (like AAC for example) to formats that your player supports (like MP3).

Reply:The answer at the above mine is partially right. MP3 Players CAN play videos just like iPods. I, personally am against iPod and here is why:

CONS for iPod:

1) They get so scratched SO easy it is unbelievable

2) You get so little for so much money to pay

Meaning - most iPods you only get music and photo, unless you get the iPod Video, but the screen is so small on the nano and it is not worth paying almost $200 for a 4GB

3) When you buy an iPod, you are mostly buying their name, not for quality

4) They do come with a lot of accesseries, but that is because it basically comes with nothing when you buy it

Example, I will use my MP3 Player for an example. I have a SanDisk Sansa e270. With the Sansa, you get, Radio, Music, Photo, Video, FM Recording, Micrphone, and a pouch. iPod, you get Music, Photo, and with the Video, Video. But that's it. If you want anything else, you pay a lot for it.

5) iPods can only be used with iTunes which is a horrible player to use. With an MP3 player, you can choose any Music Source you want.

6) They have SO many problems. Just type in iPod into the Search for Questions box here on Yahoo! Answers

PROS for iPod:

1) They are the smallest music sourced player on the market.

CONS for MP3:

1) MP3 players with video can get very pricy, but so is the iPod.

2) Hard to find an MP3 player with a big screen for cheap

PROS for MP3:

1) I listed them in the iPod cons section!

If you want an MP3 player, yet like the iPod possiblilies, go with the Creative M:

It has everything that an MP3 player can plus with Video for the same price as an iPod

Or go with the Microsoft ZUNE. Great player my friend!

Helloo guys i own a Creative Muvo TX FM MP3 Player so once I got a Firmware update for it from its original website also I got da information dat I need the update of Mass storage upgrade or something so i installed dat on my computer and upgraded the firmware to my MP3 and da problem is I cant play any song nor can I even power up my MP3 i checked my batteries and they were fully charget also when I connect my MP3 to da Computer it says found new hardware and a bubble pops up saying STMP3500 and in My Computer ther is no removeable drive indicated as before it use to.Is ther any way i can roll back da changes Please i need to operate it since Im gonna sell it.Please help me.Also If u can please tell me why this happens.Oh I forgot to mention It has 512mb storage space.

I just received a mp3 as a gift and I was wondering is there a difference between the mp3 music and the music from a cd? Can I copy a cd onto my computer and then put those songs on my mp3 or do I have to pay for specific mp3 music to download?

MP3 files are compressed files and CD files are not. Windows media player will let you "rip" the files off your cds and put them in mp3 format so you can put it on your mp3 player. You can get mp3s in this way or you can download them through itunes or other programs (although probably not legal) such as frostwire. .
Reply:Mp3 files are compressed audio files and CD audio files are not. CD songs sound better. Any mp3 songs will sound lesser! However, mp3 files do have different levels of compression and the least compressed are the best. These lower compressed mp3s do sound very close to CD quality, but I am picky about the quality of my music and prefer mp4 or wav format audio files, as these are exactly equal in quality to CDs.

Yes, you can 'rip' songs from a CD to your hard drive. You need the appropriate software and there are tons out there. I use Apple's iPod program to both rip and burn CD's. If you didn’t get the iPod software with yours, you can download it at Apples website. As you will be ripping songs into mp3 format, you will loose some quality in that process and if you burn those ripped songs back to CD ...it will not sound as good as the original CD.

You can also download free songs from 'uTorrent' by downloading and installing the free software at this link...

okay...i've got a samsung mp3 player...i know nothing about mp3 players and laptops....i wanted to download some songs to my mp3 player...but when i plug the cord into the laptop, it doesn't show up anywhere on my laptop. in fact, when my mp3 player is plugged into my laptop, it might say that it's charging but it really isn't...one time, i left it in for almost 8 hours and it still had low batteries...HELP!!!

try installing that cd first then plugging it in

but most of the time the computer will notice the device then ask for a cd or download the devioce itself

I only got a Goodman's 4Gb MP3 player today. According to the brochure, its meant to be compatable with MP3, WMA and WAV files. Yet mine only plays MP3 files. Why?!

I put a MP3 song on - it works perfectly. I put a WMA song on - no sound at all!

I've checked that it isn't the earphones. I have tried 2 other pairs and have had the same effect each time. I have tried using the earphones on my radio/cd player - they work perfectly.

I am thinking of taking it back to the store I got it from (I got cover today).

I am wondering if anybody else has had this problem?

My laptop will recognize the mp3 player however when I go to My Computer and then click on MTP Player (the automatic name given for the mp3 player) and then click on Internal Storage there should be two things there, a folder called Music and a file. Instead of that being there though there is just 2 white files that look like pieces of paper with the top right tip folded and it says that the size of both files is 0 bytes. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If it even matters the Vista version is Home Premium and the mp3 player's version is 3.101.152.

The mp3 player did come with a driver but it said to only use it if the operating system of the computer was 98 (I think that's the O.S. it said.)

MP3 Audio input for car stereo?

Ok, this will probably seem like a rather stupid question, but I'm stuck. I have a car stereo that I had professionally installed a few years ago because the CD player would also play MP3 CDs (get about 150+ songs on a disk). I now have an MP3 player that I want to be able to play my songs through the stereo. The car stereo has an MP3 Input connector, and I recently picked up an input cord through eBay (didn't have one, only had earphones for me to listen to it directly) so that I can listen to the music this way; however, when I select the AUX function on the car stereo for this to work, I don't get any sound.

Does anyone have any advice on what my next step should be (ex: specific kind of input connector cord I should pick up to connect the MP3 player to the stereo, or something else that I may not be doing right)? Thanks much all!

It's not wireless so there's no interference. Not to be confused with an FM transmitter. Basically it adds an AUX input to ANY radio. No searching for a clean channel.

It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch.

Reply:all you need to do is check to see if your radio has pre outs on the back, if it does just plug in the adapter and then plug in your audio cable from your mp3 player to the plug that now sits in front of your radio. been there done that worked out just fine for me%26amp; still use it.
Reply:the easiest solution may be to purchase a transmitter specifically designed for mp3 players and tune your music in through the fm radio band. this is what i do, and works very well most of the time. you can get them at stores like staples, radio shack, walmart, etc.

I'm a classical singer, and i do a lot of concerts that I want to record...basically I'm looking for a portable mp3 player/recorder that i can plug my microphone into and record straight in mp3 format.

i have a minidisc recorder at the moment, but I really need something that will record straight to mp3.

Transferred a bunch of songs, no problem.

I'm using Real Player to transfer the tracks.

Capacity is currently at: 696.2MB used

Now, I'm getting this error message:

Name / format / reason

Song / mp3 / Unsupported media type

What?? They're mp3's. No prob w/ the other mp3's.

I some re-burned the tracks back to CD.

That made no difference.

Any suggestions? Should I just get a new memory card and do it all over again?

I have a Samsung YP-U2J 1Gig MP3 player. I have had it for awhile now, and before I was able to upload songs on to it. I have found that recently one of my USB ports on the back of my computer no longer works. I know that the other one does though, because I use it daily for my wireless internet adapter.

So I plugged my MP3 player into that port instead to put new music on it. I have been able to format the player before, and erase all the songs, and put a whole new playlist on it... but now my computer wont even recognize the player. It uses Windows Media Player to sync to my computer.

I know that the computer somewhat recognizes that there is something in the port because it beeps everytime the screen on the MP3 player lights up, while in the USB port.

The screen on the MP3 player says "MTP connected" but I can't get Windows media player to find the device to sync to.

I dont understand how all of a sudden the player is no longer recognized by WMP. Help!

Can anyone help a confused Mum at Christmas? Both my boys received the same MP3's as presents. Number one son had no problem downloading CD's he had already downloaded to our P.C.

Tried the same procedure with other son's MP3..won't work:0(

Keeps saying 'No Authority' and DRM (Digital Rights Management). Have checked all the settings on both MP3's are the same, and have tried the same method to download the same files (via Windows Media Player) %26amp; still nothing. All the CD's show as WMA music file format.

Do you think youngest son's MP3 is faulty or am I missing something (quite likely!)

Stay clear of wma files if you can, the DRM is a right pain in the bum.Try and stick with mp3 /m4a 's instead.

, In windows Media Player, Click "Tools" then "Options" then "Rip Music"

Then, untick the box that asks if you want to "copy protect music" when ripping (or, better still, change it from .wma to mp3 in the drop-down "format" box just above). Then click "ok". Next time you copy a cd, you wont have this problem

But as the man says, Windows media player is pretty duff. "Geeks" recommend the VLC player -available by clicking any one of the links on this page:-

I assume you mean a mp3 player instead of an mp3. Most likely depending on the software you are using it only allows one copy of the downloaded music. Because of this the first son who's mp3 player got the music was allowed to have it as the one mp3 player copy. This is to prevent piracy so music files aren't shared with many people.

You can convert from midi to mp3, but not mp3 to midi. you need a midi creator software to make it sound like the mp3.

I bought an MP3/WMA player that reads MMC/SD cards for memory on EBay about 4 months ago. I have yet to figure out how to play WMA files on it though. The display on the MP3 player has 3 symbols on the side; MP3, WMA, and an antenna (FM). All that ever lights up is MP3. It does not have a model or brand anywhere on it. There was no documentation other than how to turn it on. Has anybody else had this problem, and does anybody know a solution?

This may appear a dumb question but I really have no idea about MP3. I'm about to get a new phone with an MP3 player. My boyfriend has an MP3 compatible car stereo and we're both pretty much clueless as to how the MP3 thing works. My sister has a laptop that I can download from. I want music on the move and not to have to carry around my bulky CD WALKMAN. lol. Any advice, instructions etc, would be greatly appreciated.

MP3 - the process?
Basically MP3 is just a type of audio file used for compressing sound (usually a piece of music) into a small file with hardly any loss in quality. In a normal recorded piece of music (such as on a CD), there are loads of sounds present that are not audible to the human ear. MP3 converter programs compress the music by taking out all these bits you can't hear.

You can download a piece of music from a website or transfer songs from a CD and store them on your PC or MP3 player in MP3 format. Then you can listen to the music on either device.

(Note: there are two main types of MP3 player - 'hard drive' MP3 players like an iPod or zen creative which can hold thousands of songs, or 'USB' MP3 players which are general smaller phyiscally and have less memory space).

Reply:Don't bother with an MP3 phone. It's not worth the price. The phone will be more expensive than it should be, have inferior software, it will drain the battery of your phone much more quickly, and the cost to have storage on it is much higher than it is to simply by a stand alone MP3 player.

A gigabye SD card, which might hold less than 500 songs will cost you 100 dollars. Factor that in with the price of a phone and you're paying more than 300 dollars, and for that price you could just get yourself an 30GB ipod and a decent freebie phone or better.

Reply:Mp3 is a file format that basically takes out the frequencies you dont hear from a piece of music. This allows it to pack a lot more songs into a lot less space........a normal writable CD holds about 18 normal (uncompressed) songs but probably something like 130 mp3 songs! What you need is a computer program that converts your CDs into Mp3s (or you can download them off the internet) and then use the computer to transfer them into your phone, or write an mp3 CD which your hubby's car stereo can play. go to http://download.com and do a search for 'Mp3 converter' to get one. Reply:When you purchase your phone it will most likely come with some sort of software to install to be able to download music. Mine came with one that allowed me to use Windows Media Player which was really simple. Then you download tunes from your favorite CD onto your computer (again if you have Windows Media Player you just choose "rip" and you can pick the tracks you want). Then you open the program for you mp3 player and download it into your phone. Some programs will allow you to download directly to the mp3 player but we don't have those as itunes and Windows Media Player require you to save it to the computer first. As for your boyfriends stereo he should have some sort of adapter or socket to be able to conect with the mp3 player. It would be a little more difficult without actually seeing it.
Reply:Mp3 is the format, there are many different "compression" rates for mp3. So far none of the commercial ones match CD quality, they are all just a bit better than the quality from an FM station, so..... you pays, they gives you crap, you accept it blinded by the techno b.s. most of the companies try. "Music on the move", will never provide the quality of sound a,"static", sound system will, however you could get a vast improvement with better quality headphones, not the excuse for earplugs that most manufacturers provide you with. All these new "systems" provide you with nothing new, just more of the same old junk, and they ask you to pay exorbitant prices for it as well. So go with it, buy what they tell you to buy, be a good little consumer, and don't question what you are told by these people.
Reply:I think an MP3 compatible stereo means it can play cds that have songs that are in the MP3 format. So you will still need cds for that - just ones that you have made yourself.

One of the best sites for MP3 are itunes you will pay aout 99c per song. I think there are sites to download for free but I don't know them. You should be able to just hook your phone up to a computer (it should hopefully come with a cable) and transfer them. Your phone may even come with software that you can load onto your computer to make it a bit easier.

The best way to learn is to play around a bit. Thats what I did when I got my iPod and now I know much more than when I started.

I know that some of the new cars are coming standard with I guess an mp3 jack so you can just plug that into the top of your iPod/mp3 player and play it through your car stereo......But do you know of any places who will or can install an mp3 jack into any car? I would personally not recommend an FM Transmitter. The sound quality is not so good, and some sound frequencies can be lost. If you have an aftermarket radio, chances are it has an auxilliary audio output. You can go to your local car audio store (I went to Radio Shack) and purchase an RCA cable (I got Monster Cable). You can plug this cable into the back of your radio, and plug an mp3 player to the other end. If you have a fatory standard radio, you can take your car into an audio installing place (I think Best Buy/Circuit City does this, I'm sure Tweeter can), and they can install an aux input cable for you, however this can be expensive. I would recommend just getting a new radio and RCA cables. A new radio is nice to have anyways.
Reply:To answer your question, no. You cannot install what you describe. An electronics techinicain could (only if it's a tape deck too), but it would void any kind of warranty on what you have.

What you mean to say is an 1/8" stereo jack.

The best way to do what you want is to get an FM transmiiter. It plugs into your iPod/MP3/CD players 1/8" stereo jack and broadcasts your tunes over the air waves (FM broadcast) to your radio.

Just tune your radio to the frequency of the transmitter and your rockin'!!!

Oh, get the kind that plugs into the cigarette lighter, NOT the one that runs off of batteries.

The only other option would be to buy a new HU that had this feature.

Best Buy/Circuit City NOR ANYBODY ELSE CAN INSTALL AN AUX INPUT CABLE ON ANY RADIO. The radio will either already have an input or you have to use some other means (ie, FM Transmitter, cassette adapter or new HU with an 1/8" input jack on it).

Yes, it is possible to electrically add an input on a tape deck, but it will void any warranties and good luck with the cost to do so. A CD player cannot be modified for an input.

My sansa mp3 player just died.

I want a new mp3 player, and I'm thinking of just going with an ipod. I either want a 4gb or an 8gb.

Are there any other mp3 players out there that are good quality, won't DIE after a year of great treatment, and not over $200?

The ipod nano is $200, and I'm trying to find something equivalent for a tad less.

Computer recognizes mp3 player and syncs to download files. All music was downloaded to the mp3 player.

When I view the music files on the mp3 player using my computer, it shows that all the music is on the mp3 player (274 music files), but when I turn on the player it says "no mp3 files"

Its almost like the mp3 player is nothing more than a flash driver (when viewed on the computer). When I hook the player to the computer it goes through the "autoplay" and plays the music from the player.

Reply:what bit rate are the mp3's? 128? 190? 320?. Some mp3 players can't play the higher bit rate files. I couldn't find that information on the Xtatix web site so if you have higher bit rate mp3's I'd try one at 128kbps and see if that works.

I'm a novice at this. I bought and downloaded 4 mp3's. They are on my computer in my musice file. I have a camera which also plays mp3's so I want to move the files to my camera. When I plug the camera in with the usb connection and click the mass storage device, the mp3's are in the media file and not the mp3 folder. How do I move them from the media to mp3 folder? It seems like it should be simple but I can't figure it out.

i bought an mp3 off a friend, its a silver rectangular shaped generic looking mp3. it doesn't have a company name or anything on it just the words digital mp3 player(along w/ mp3/wma/rec). other than that all i know is that the firmware version is 3.0.43.0000. i want to change the songs %26amp; even add some new ones but i cant because i don't have the drivers to it. if anyone out there has the same type of mp3 %26amp; has the drivers to it or has any other help, can u send some links? any help would be appreciated. i don't wanna get stuck listening to my friends crappy songs! :)

Reply:In general, you pretty much plug it in to any USB port, and it should act as a storage device (i.e. if you double click on "my computer" it should appear as a new drive. Then you can drag and drop songs to it.

i just got a new mp3. it is a philips 4gig mp3. i have just added all my songs but on the mp3 i don't know how to change there names as i see them on the mp3. and allot of them the names are different to how i want them. i'm guessing i have to do this on the computer but thats about all i know. i have tried just changing their names in their folder but that doesn't seem to work. i thought something like changing their names in windows media player but i can't figures out how??? can someone please tell me how to change there names so they are how i want them on my mp3. and also i want them to be under the right artist and just stuff like that.
